Shahbaz Sharif’s political career began when he was elected to the Punjab Provincial Legislative Assembly in 1988

In 1990 itself, he was again elected as the Punjab Provincial and National Assembly in the general elections

In 1993, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly for the third time and became the Leader of the Opposition.

In 1997, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly for the fourth time and this time he took oath as the Chief Minister of Punjab

During his tenure, he was highly praised by the administration for his good efforts in health, education, agriculture and industrial sectors

He started many development projects and took strict action against the criminals to maintain law and order in the province
